PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 03, 2011 - The award-winning Riverdale Rising Stars are proud to present the 8-time Tony award winning musical LES MISERABLES, SCHOOL EDITION! This classic and poignant show, set in 19th century France, tells the story of Jean Valjean, a strong hearted man jailed for stealing a loaf of bread. As he struggles to make a new life for himself given his new found freedom, he must grapple with questions of faith, fatherhood, allegiance to the law, and, above all, identity. The production will feature thirty current and recent graduates of the Rising Stars program, who in recent years have garnered more than 20 National Youth Theater Awards! Come and enjoy this exhilarating musical voyage into post-revolutionary France.
The show has a special opening night gala on August 11th at 7:30PM. Shows that follow are Saturday's August 13 & 20 at 8:45PM, Sunday, August 14 at 3:00PM and Tuesday through Thursday, August 16-18 at 7:30PM. Tickets are available online at riverdaley.org; $10 for students and seniors and $15 general admission. General admission tickets purchased at the door are $18.
