FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 15, 2011 – When I think of Hip Hop, I think of a lifestyle. I think of a beat or instrumental; a song that takes you back to a specific time and place. The same way a taste brings you back to mamas cooking, or a certain smell takes you back to the good old days. Sitting down with Big Man Kelly of Hot 105/99 Jamz, he represents this very definition. Taking brief moments between answering questions to listen to a particular song or instrumental; he reminisces verbally on where he was or what he was doing in that specific time period. You can see the love as well as the respect for what he does in his eyes, even with his shades on. “I always knew I wanted to be in the entertainment industry,” he reflects, “my father was a jazz musician.” A doting husband, devoted father, and loyal man of God; this multi-talented mogul is looking for the infamous “what’s next” move. From “the getting out there days” where he would call and check in with the local radio station on his way to Boyd Anderson high. To his “making it happen days” where he interned at an a.m. station. Big Man Kelly is part of what Hip Hop really is, from the old school days when 99 Jamz was better known as WEDR. When music actually made you feel something more than sexual arousal. Where a set of lyrics had more meaning then anything you had ever heard before. Where as soon as you heard a particular beat you were instantly brought back to that year or that time; that memory that displayed before your eyes to the very rhythm of the beat as if it were happening all over again. A family man, as well as, an entertainer Kelly requires nothing more from his wife and children them good old fashion TLC. “I give so much of myself on a daily basis, all I want is attention and love from my wife and family.” This small request may seem like nothing, but to Kelly it means the world. When speaking of his wife you can see the love and admiration, when talking of children you can hear the love in each word. He pauses again, Tupac and John B pours out of the speakers. DJ Serge is really rocking the club with the perfect combination of old school funk and today’s hottest hits. “I love John B and Tupac,” and as he expresses why, the wisdom behind each word he spews resonates and settles in a place not many can reach. Smooth, humble, funny, flirtatious and wise, these characteristics describe Kelly in a nutshell. Each quality he expresses thru every fiber of his being. Whether it was the way he lounged back on the chaise beside my chair as I interviewed him, or thru the wisdom coated words he shared with me. Regardless if it was thru the songs he chose to include in his mix, or the way he broke down the meaning of each track so effortlessly. Big Man Kelly is one of the few that can take music from the entertainment aspect of it and really cause you to see the artistic side; the intuitive side. Musicians, DJ’s, Models, Radio Personalities; Big Man Kelly is an -1241012452  icon. Be sure to check him out at Iguanas on Monday nights for the “grown and sexy” only. Whether you’re grown or you just thing you’re grown bring your sexy selves on. Why Monday night? “It’s been done before” straight from the mouth of the big man himself. He’s giving you a reason to dress up and go out. No usual club uncomfortable crammed space. This is more of a laid back lounge experience. Good music, Great food, and that old school good old days vibe you can’t help but miss if you were around for it, or wish you could have been around for it if you weren’t.
