Zim Expo Returns to Toronto for 7th Anniversary Year

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 21, 2011 – Zim Expo returns to Toronto for its 7th year with a business expo focused on health, home and style – and one that could put a local woman on the international stage.

The 2011 Expo, slated this year for Aug 5-7, features products, services and seminars that aim to provide a weekend of education, entertainment and enjoyment.  As the largest single business event for Zimbabweans in the region, the Expo will feature several Zimbabwean-owned and Zimbabwean-focused businesses during the three-day event.

Each year, the Expo strives to blend old favorites – such as consular services from the Zimbabwean Embassy, on-site business consultations and community awards.  This year, Affirmative Action Group Zimbabwe (AAG), will present at the Expo on Saturday from 12-4p.m.  Furthermore, the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) is expected to share insights on investing in Zimbabwe.

Highlights of this year’s line-up of activities include:
•  A large team of Zimbabwean businesses.
•  Her Excellency Mrs Florence Chideya, Zimbabwean Ambassador to Canada, will speak on Friday evening.  She will share stories of success and present the community awards.
•  The Miss Zimbabwe Canada Pageant. This year, the winner has a chance to represent Zimbabwe at Miss Earth in 2012.
•  Business themed workshops.
•  Junior Achievement workshops for teens.
•  Local and regional experts will present engaging and entertaining presentations and demonstrations on a variety of subjects, including networking, business start up and finances.

“Zim Expo is a unique event  for Zimbabweans – it’s an opportunity to network, learn about new initiatives and kick back, relax and have fun with friends,” says Chipo Mkandla, Communications Director for ZimExpo.  “For many Zimbabweans in Canada and the Diaspora, this is a destination weekend that allows them to connect with friends and family while recharging their business batteries. This year, we are focusing on "Networking for Business and Social Prosperity"– key areas important to all of us.  ZimExpo offers a once-in-a-summer chance to learn, savour and enjoy the products and services our community has to offer during a special event tailored for the lives of busy immigrants.”

The Expo is slated to run from 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug 5th right through to Sunday evening.  Advance tickets are $35 each for the Awards Dinner and $20 each for Miss Zimbabwe Canada.

As in previous years, the Miss Zimbabwe Canada Pageant will feature live music and a fashion show. In addition to the two guest speakers, local and regional experts will present engaging and entertaining presentations and demonstrations on a variety of subjects, including networking, business start up and finances. Sponsors of this event include Fashion Designer Paidemoyo Chideya, Chiggy’s Salon, HUTANO, Printers Paradise Inc and the Zimbabwe Canada Association.

Another popular draw for the event will be an Interdenominational church service, soccer game and family day BBQ on Sunday.
